Description:   The development of world civilization as a background for studying the interdependent world of networks is examined. Topics include selected Western and non-Western civilizations beginning with the middle ages as the setting for analyzing the relationship of important events, persons, and trends to the development of social, political, cultural, and economic institutions. Emphasis is given to the skills of interpretation, analysis, and synthesis.
